10. Who Is Tobi?

Who Is Tobi?

Tobi was an alter ego that Obito Uchiha used to conceal his true identity while working behind the scenes to bring his plan to fruition. The mask that he wore was made from the prosthetics of White Zetsu, which helped to obscure his identity even further. It was not until the final arc of the series that the true identity of Tobi was revealed to be Obito Uchiha.

The Meaning Behind The Name “Tobi”

Obito Uchiha's pseudonym, Tobi, holds a deeper meaning than just being a simple alias. The name "Tobi" can be translated in two ways - as the "I" form of the verb "to" or as the noun "kite".

The latter meaning draws a connection with Team Taka through a Japanese proverb, which states that "a hawk born from a kite" means that a talented child can come from parents with no special abilities. Although Obito isn't Sasuke's parent, he is an older relative and his role in Sasuke's life is significant.

8. Obito Uchiha’s Kekkai Genkai

Obito Uchiha’s Kekkai Genkai

In the Fourth Ninja World War arc, Obito displayed his mastery over four different types of kekkei genkai. The first three of these were the eyes that he possessed - the Sharingan, the Mangekyo Sharingan, and the Rinnegan. As an Uchiha, Obito initially possessed the Sharingan, but he was able to obtain the Mangekyo Sharingan after tragically witnessing the death of his friend Rin at the hands of his other teammate Kakashi.

Obito’s Rinnegan was later implanted in his left eye after Nagato's death. The fourth kekkei genkai that Obito used was the wood release technique, which he acquired after Madara replaced his broken limbs with parts of Hashirama's flesh. This allowed Obito to harness the power of the First Hokage and use it to manipulate the environment and create powerful wood-based attacks. Obito's possession of these four kekkei genkai made him one of the most formidable opponents in the series, and his use of them was a testament to his skill as a ninja.

As a Jinchuuriki of the Ten-tails, Obito possessed the power of the Rikudou, one of which was the ability to control and manipulate the Gudoudama, a powerful attack unique to the Ten-tails.

Unlike Madara and Naruto, Obito had the added ability to not only control Gudoudama as he pleased but also shape-shift it to suit his needs, whether it be for defense or offense. Obito's mastery over the Gudoudama demonstrated his exceptional control over the Ten-tail's power and made him a formidable opponent on the battlefield.

6. How Come Obito Didn’t Die?

How Come Obito Didn’t Die?

After being left for dead in a tragic accident, Obito Uchiha was rescued by White Zetsu, who had been sent by an elderly Madara. He was brought to the Mountains' Graveyard, where his injuries were treated and his damaged body parts were replaced with limbs grown from the cells of Hashirama Senju.

Despite his grave injuries, Obito's right Sharingan had miraculously survived intact. At first, Obito was frightened by Madara and the prospect of owing him a debt, but he was also grateful for being saved, and thus willing to offer any assistance he could. Madara made it clear that he would collect on this offer in the future.

Obito then began a long and difficult rehabilitation process, determined to recover enough to return to Konoha and help his friends and the village in the ongoing war. With the help of White Zetsu and another spiral-faced Zetsu, whom Obito nicknamed Guruguru, he became accustomed to his new limbs and the abilities they granted him.

During this time, Madara repeatedly shared his views on the harsh realities of the world and his plan to save it, but Obito initially disregarded them, focusing on his recovery and return to the village.

5. The Secret Of Obito Uchiha’s Mangekyou Sharingan

The Secret Of Obito Uchiha’s Mangekyou Sharingan

The Mangekyou Sharingan, a powerful advanced form of the Sharingan, is known to have a significant drawback - frequent and prolonged use of the Mangekyou Sharingan can cause the eye to deteriorate, eventually leading to blindness.

However, this was not the case with Obito Uchiha, who possessed the Kamui power, a unique ability that allowed him to warp objects or people to a separate dimension. The reason for this discrepancy is not entirely clear, but there are several possibilities.

One reason could be that Obito possessed the Senju gene, which would have made his eyes more resilient. Another possibility is that Obito only used one of his eyes for Kamui, while the other was used by Kakashi.

Regardless of the reason, it is clear that Obito's possession of the Kamui power and the Senju gene allowed him to use his Mangekyou Sharingan without experiencing the typical deterioration associated with it.

4. How Powerful Is Obito’s Genjutsu?

Obito, being an Uchiha, possessed the ability to use Genjutsu. One of the most notable instances of Obito using Genjutsu was during his attempt to capture the Nine-Tails, also known as Kyuubi, from Konoha.

He was able to instill a powerful Genjutsu on the Kyuubi, allowing him to control the beast's actions and make it attack the village. Obito's mastery over Genjutsu was evident in this instance, as he was able to bend the powerful and wild beast to his will, causing destruction and chaos in Konoha.

3. The Obito In-Game

The Obito In-Game

Obito is primarily known for his mastery over the Sharingan and other abilities specific to the Uchiha clan. However, in the alternate universe of the Ultimate Ninja Storm series, Obito has access to additional jutsu styles such as fire-style techniques.

Although we did see Obito use fire jutsu in the series, it was only once, during his time as an immature ninja. Interestingly, in the game, Obito is only able to use the fire jutsu when wearing his Tobi mask, similar to how Kakashi only uses his Mangekyou Sharingan when he has his mask on.

This is quite peculiar as it is not explained in anime or manga. It can be assumed that this is a creative choice from the game developers to make Obito's abilities in the game more versatile and give him an edge in battles.

2. Tobi’s Six Paths Of Pain

Tobi’s Six Paths Of Pain

Obito, albeit his mastery of the Six Paths' senjutsu, is not a natural user of this technique. He was able to access the power of senjutsu by creating his own Six Paths of Pain and using them as vessels to absorb natural energy.

He was able to harness this power after reviving the corpses of deceased Jinchuriki and imbuing them with the abilities of the Six Paths of Pain, allowing him to use senjutsu without being a natural user. This unique approach to using senjutsu showcases his exceptional abilities and willingness to think outside the box to achieve his goals.

1. The Relationship Between Tobi And Zetsu

The Relationship Between Tobi And Zetsu

The questionable thing is– as Obito is a quiet and serious person, it was unusual for him to act in a ridiculous and witty manner as Tobi did. However, it’s possible that Tobi's behavior wasn’t entirely his own, but rather a result of manipulation by Spiral Zetsu, the shapeshifting creature who had been working under Madara Uchiha.

This would explain Tobi's seemingly out-of-character behavior, as Spiral Zetsu could have been controlling Tobi's actions and words to conceal Obito's true identity and keep him hidden from his enemies.
